Although I haven’t found the time to follow the ongoing EVO course on Podcasting in ELT, I have still been able to enjoy podcasting recently.  Starting with me experiments at English Conversations, I just launched Friends World Podcasts, as part of an attempt to incorporate podcasts into the program.

Friends World is a global education program with centers in different countries.  Students travel to different places, while studying the language, history, culture, and religion of each region.  Having a podcast site would allow them to document and share their learning using a rich medium like sound, recording short presentations, interviews and oral histories with interesting people, soundscapes and music of each culture, poetry readings, story telling, comic performances, news and reports, etc.  I just hope that students will take control of the site soon, making it their own and taking it in a direction that best suits their needs and interests.
