We’re now moving into Week 4 in our course Interactive Webpublishing 2006 at the East Asia Center:
Now that you all have a basic understanding of how to use the two primary tools in this course - your weblog and RSS feed reader - we will begin exploring skillful means of putting them to use by building a Personal Learning Community (PLC). The foundation of a healthy PLC is a sound online presence, accomplished mainly through posting, commenting, linking, and networking, both with people and resources. In this course, we will refer to networking with people as social networking, while networking with knowledge as knowledge management. The combination of social networking with knowledge management lends itself well to insightful conversation. Sustained insightful conversation leads to personal growth and greater awareness, not to mention the cultivation of a meaningful community of people with shared interest and easy access to relevant informational resources.
