A Guidebook and a Peace Conference
Tim Denny (who definitely needs a blog) points us to an excellent guidebook for teachers in higher ed, called Teaching at Mizzou - worth a look for any teacher I’d say. via Kansai LCT
*update* The technology section of the guidebook includes no mention of weblogs or wikis….hmmm….??? They have a school of information science and learning technology there as well; still pushing centralization via Blackboard and WebCT.
Tim has also been in charge of organizing this year’s Peace as a Global Language Conference
to be held in Kyoto later this month. In addition to a three-day lineup
of some fascinating lectures and panels from international
practitioners, there will also be a hunger banquet
designed to reflect global inequality: some participants will receive
gourmet meals, others simple meals, while some will eat just rice and
water, and others nothing. The best thing about this conference is the
price tag for students: approximately 8.00 $US for the entire three
days. Now that’s what I’d call truly participatory, a model that all
conference organizers should strive to achieve. Excellent work there
Tim.
