IWP - Class notes 10.1
We spent most of our session reviewing Week 9: RSS and aggregators and how to use tools like Feedster, Waypath, and Technorati
to find feeds relevant to our learning needs. One learner
said he was having trouble finding good blogs to subscribe to. It
was agreed that he should try different search terms in addition to
subscribing to the feeds of those same search terms on Feedster that
were directly related to his studies. Also mentioned was that he
ought to go ahead and subscribe to bloggers who write about germane
topics, even if he doesn’t find those bloggers intitially
interesting. Eventually they will point him to better feeds via
their links. Once he finds a blog he really likes, he can use the
blogroll or a technorati search to find other potentially relevant
authors. Over time, his collection of subscriptions will mature
into feeds that truly stimulate his learning. He should be
patient and not expect immediate results. It necessitates
consistent effort. Remember that it is the process that matters
here: happily building the foundations of a lifelong learning project.
